The Trade Unionism in Dun Laoghaire and opposition from local church and political interests 1890 – 1920.

A talk on the difficult foundation days of Trade Unions in the Dun Laoghaire area – by historian Charles Callen, takes place on Thursday 1st March 2018.

Centenary of the successful national strike against army conscription: Thursday 5th April 2018 with Padraig Yeates, Author, other readings from the period of songs this era with William Byrne.

Charles Callen, the historian will speak on the formation of trade unions in Dún Laoghaire including strong opposition received from local clergy, political interests in the years 1980 to 1920. The talk takes place at the Dún Laoghaire Club, 3 Eblana Avenue on Thursday 1st March, commencing at 8.00p.m.
