Dublin Port’s security provider, Manguard Plus has been awarded one of the industry’s most prestigious awards for the second year in a row, writes Rose Barrett.
Manguard Plus retains the multi million euro contract to provide security at Dublin Port and the company has copper fastened its’ position as Ireland’s leading security company, winning the ‘Outstanding Contract Guarding Security Company’ for the second year in a row.
The company, founded 27 years ago, employs some 1,200 people from offices in Dublin and across the country, and once again won the majority of awards at the second OSPA’s (Outstanding Security Performance Awards) national awards.
Its’ continuous ethos of training staff and working towards professionalising the entire Irish security industry was recognised, with the company winning the coveted ‘Outstanding Security Training Award’ for its initiative with the International Foundation of Protection Officers.
Its’ Commercial Manager, Garry Bergin won the Lifetime Achievement Award, following on the heels of Manguard Plus Managing Director, Sean Hall, who took the inaugural title last year.
Speaking after the event, Sean Hall MD praised company staff at Manguard which numbers some of the biggest global and local companies on its client list, Aer Lingus, Dublin Port Company, DSV and Virgin Media amongst them.
“This is a true honour for Manguard Plus and I’m extremely proud on behalf of all of us who have worked so hard to make the company what it is. It genuinely is a team effort and recognition of the staff here, who give over and above, always. They have worked tirelessly to ensure that Manguard Plus is now the leading provider of professional security services, maintaining and growing a blue-chip client base.
“I have enormous respect for them and for our clients, many of whom have been with us since the beginning. It’s no exaggeration to say that Manguard Plus is a family; I’d like to pay tribute to my own family, my parents and brothers and sisters as well as extended family members who have supported me from day one and who continue to work alongside me, and the wider Manguard Plus ‘family ‘ who have remained so loyal to us”, said Mr Hall.
For his part, Garry Bergin praised the company for backing him “all the way and supporting me as I continue my education in what is a dynamic and highly interesting and important industry. I truly believe that things are only going to get better for Manguard Plus”.
Renowned Security Academic, Professor Martin Gill, founder of the OSPA’s revealed the Irish finalists for next year’s awards will go forward for the prestigious International OSPA’s”.
