Gaza protest

Sinn Féin Dublin City Councilor Daithí Doolan is calling on all members of Dublin City Council to join a protest today,  to denounce the horrible crisis residents of Gaza and the West Bank are now experiencing.

Calling for an immediate ceasefire, DCC members will meet this evening at 6pm, at the Rotunda, City Hall and members of the public are welcome to attend.

We have all been moved by the terrible humanitarian disaster in Gaza and the West Bank. The rising death toll is heart breaking to witness. Israel is waging violence at a level never seen before in the Middle East. Bombing medical facilities, schools, civilian and medical convoys are all crimes against humanity. Denying the people of Gaza, aid, water, food and fuel is in breach on international law.

“Elected representatives of all political parties have a responsibility to show leadership and call for an immediate ceasefire. Political parties might have different views and analysis on the terrible situation in Palestine. But one thing for sure we can all agree on is there needs to be an immediate ceasefire.

“This must quickly be followed by a lifting of the siege of Gaza, full unimpeded international aid in to Gaza and a peace process that leads to self-determination for the Palestinian people.

“With this in mind, I am inviting all Dublin City Councillors to stand together tonight at 6pm making the simple demand, ‘Ceasefire Now’. We have our differences, but on this issue I am sure we can all stand together.”
