Protesters are occupying the Department of Transport Offices in Dublin this morning, calling on Minister Ryan and workers in the Department of Transport to stand with the Palestinian people by halting any transportation of weapons bound for Israel through Shannon Airport.
Dublin For Gaza spokesperson Rosie Leonard stated “US President Joe Biden is pledging military aid and weapons to the Israeli state – we call on the Department to ensure that Ireland plays no part in transporting these weapons of destruction to Israel”
Shannon Airport is used as a stopover for the US military, using civilian airlines to transport US troops and weapons. The airlines chartered by the US military must receive an exemption from the Minister of Transport allowing them to transport weapons through our airports. According to the government’s figures, over 500 such exemptions have been made by the department this year so far.

In under 30 days, over 10,000 Palestinians have died, including almost 4000 children. Dublin For Gaza call on Minister Ryan to’ stop granting exemptions immediately and ensure that our airports are not used to transport weapons to Israel’.
Across the world, we are seeing workers block military aid to Israel by refusing to handle weapons, refusing to unload weapons bound for Israel, and blocking warships headed to the Middle East. Dublin For Gaza activist Jordy said ” Our action falls on the same week that will see global days of action on November 9th and 10th where Palestinian trade unions have called upon workers around the world to block arms factories, urge unions to halt weapon production and to expose complicit universities.”
