Dublin City Council is owed €30,771,473 in development levies. This is a massive jump from €2,800,482 in 2019.

Sinn Féin Dublin City Cllr. Daithí Doolan received this information in reply to a question to City Council management. He said:

“Dublin City Council is owed over €30M in development levies. This is a huge jump from €2.8M in 2019. These astonishing figures were revealed to me in response to a question I put to Council management.

“Developers are holding Dublin to ranson. This money is badly needed for playgrounds, youth services and sport facilities.

“In a cynical twist, many of these developers will now be absolved from paying any levies at all.

“Dublin City Council need to redouble their efforts and ensure outstanding levies are paid as a matter of urgency. These developers are starving communities of much needed facilities and services. This cannot be allowed continue any longer.
