Currach crews from all over the East Coast met in Skerries, Co. Dublin, for a Three Island Challenge.

The challenge involved crews rowing their currachai – each carrying a keg of Guinness –  7 kilometres around Skerries’ three offshore islands, Colt Island, St Patrick’s Island and Shenick Island, before returning to shore.

Inspired by the craftsmanship of traditional boat builders on the one hand and a famous 1977 Guinness TV on the other, the rowing race has become an annual feature in the North County Dublin town.
