South Dublin County Council has been shortlisted in nine categories in the Twentieth Annual Chambers Ireland Excellence in Local Government Awards, writes Rachel Cunningham.

The awards, which are sponsored by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, are held to recognise and celebrate the outstanding work being carried out by Local Authorities all over Ireland.

South Dublin County Council has been recognised for various projects, including Tallaght’s District-Heating Network in Climate Change, Balgadd’sy Better Block Event in Festival of the Year and Dublin Mountains Community Archaeology Initiative in Heritage and Built Environment.

“I’m delighted to see the wide range of our projects that have been recognised in the Excellence in Local Government Awards 2023.

“This is a testament to the work that the staff, councillors and many other stakeholders involved put in to deliver these projects, which all ultimately contribute to our continued aim of South Dublin being a great place to live and work,” said Chief Executive of South Dublin County Council Colm Ward.

The awards ceremony will be hosted on Thursday, November 23, in the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
