This month, a new sign went up over the offices of six well-known merchants for builders’ supplies across Dublin. That sign read ‘CORE’ and with a new catchy slogan, ‘We Supply. You Build’, it officially announced the rebranding of these dedicated stores formerly known as Builders Providers.
CORE is the ambitious dream of husband and wife entrepreneurial team Emma Maye and Alan Hegarty. Both from property backgrounds, they acquired their first builders’ merchants in Clondalkin village in 2016. The business grew quickly when branches in Blackrock and Coolock joined the group in 2017. Then followed Ringsend branch in 2020 and finally, KCR Kimmage and KCR Nangor Road branches in 2021. Today, they are certainly one of the larger chains of builders’ merchants and specialists in Dublin.
Emma, Alan and CORE’s senior management are especially proud to have retained the majority of employees they inherited at their six branches. In an era of downsizing, furloughs and layoffs, this is no small feat. This rebrand marks the start of a new era of visionary growth geared at fulfilling the promise of helping their customers build at affordable prices.
With a staff strength currently at over 115, CORE is as ready as ever to deliver the supplies and expert advice builders and DIYers will need to complete their small and large construction, renovation and DIY projects.
CORE CEO Emma Maye says: “Employees are the cornerstone of our business. To use an apt building metaphor, they are the mortar that holds the bricks of our business together and the foundation of every business decision we make. We value our employees and their well-being, and are proud that they share our vision for the future.”
The business was already popular for being Dublin’s ‘real builders’ merchants’ because of the expert help, advice and tips their staff give to customers in-store. Branches are open to both trade and the public, offering products and services to suit all construction and DIY projects and needs. They also recently launched plant and tool hire centres at Clondalkin and Coolock, completing CORE’s one-stop shop experience.
CORE Founding Director Alan Hegarty says about the future: “CORE’s objective is to continue to invest in our employees and improve and enhance our customer service. We have maximised our offering to customers in the Dublin area and we hope to continue our growth through further acquisitions and encourage sustainable building throughout the Leinster area.”
The CORE group also owns www.build4less.ie, one of Ireland’s leading e-commerce sites for building materials.
