A brand new musical from the producers of Hairspray is set to debut at the Bord Gais Theatre this month.
‘Club Tropicana’ is led by former X Factor winner Joe McElderry, and is all about the vibrant Club Tropicana Hotel, with the production set in the 1980’s.
Billed as the ‘ultimate holiday musical’, the cast is rounded out by Eastenders’ Neil McDermott, Kate Robbins and Emily Tierney, as well as former Sugababe singer Amelle Berrabah making her theatre debut.
The plot of the play revolves around a bubbling bride and groom who get the dreaded cold feet ahead of their wedding, with each of them deciding to jet off into the warmer weather – without knowing they’ve both checked themselves into the same hotel. Will the lovebirds go through with the wedding? All will be revealed.
The soundtrack to the musical includes some of the 80s best known hits, including Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Take On Me, Just Can’t Get Enough, Oops Upside Your Head, The Look of Love, Making Your Mind Up, Relax, Islands on the Stream, She Drives Me Crazy, Don’t Go, La Dolce Vita, and many more.
Club Tropicana will run for five days and eight performances, kicking off on Tuesday July 30 with matinee shows on Wednesday July 31, Friday August 2 and Saturday August 3. Tickets for Club Tropicana are on sale now from the Bord Gais Energy Theatre website, priced from €25.
