A man in his 60’s, who was arrested in relation to the death of 88-year-old Neasa Murray, appeared in court yesterday evening charged with her murder.
61-year-old Brendan Murray, Neasa’s son, appeared before a special sitting of Dublin District Court on Tuesday evening.
Neasa was fatally assaulted at her home in Kincora Court in Clontarf on Sunday evening, with Brendan Murray arrested shortly after.
He was formally cautioned at 5:40pm on Tuesday, before being charged with her murder at 6pm, RTE reports.
Judge John Brennan remanded Brendan Murray to remain in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court via video link next Friday, and agreed for an ‘urgent’ psychiatric assessment to be carried out.
Gardai have said in a statement that the investigation into the incident is on-going.
