CAB operation sees the seizure of money and motorcycles in Crumlin

The Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) conducted a search operation in the south Dublin area this morning, which saw the seizure of €4,000 and 10 motorcycles – including BMW’s and Harley Davidson’s.

According to a Gardai spokesperson, the search occurred at a heavily fortified compound in Crumlin, Dublin 12.

During the operation two men were also arrested and detained for money laundering offences. They are currently held under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Garda stations within the Dublin Metropolitan Region.

The search was conducted by CAB in conjunction with Crumlin District gardai and supported by the Emergency Response Unit, Air Support Unit, Armed Support Unit and Customs Dog Unit

Three cars, a Ford Ranger, Volkswagen Scirocco and a BMW, were also seized during the search.

In a statement, Gardai say “today’s search operation targeted a criminal grouping aligned to a number of Organised Crime Groups involved in drug trafficking and organised criminality nationally.

“Today marks a significant development in an ongoing money laundering and proceeds of crime investigation.”

The operation was part of an ongoing CAB investigation was seen over €125,000 and £7,600 seized by the authorities.
