St Brigid’s Photography Group  winners

St Brigid’s Photography Group recently presented awards to their club members who won out their of club photographer of the year. The presentation took place out in the Phoenix Park as a result of Covid restrictions at the time.

During the year members take part in monthly photo competitions, which is judged by external judges and they allocate points choosing the top four photos in a Novice, Intermediate and Advanced Categories.  The competition really gets people out and about using their cameras and this has been a wonderful hobby during the pandemic.

The winner of the Novice is Maria Cennerazzo, a native of Italy and living in Ireland now several years.  The Intermediate Category was won by Des O’Neill and the overall Advanced category was won by Derek Byrne. Each winner received a framed copy of one of the overall winning images.

St Brigid’s Photo Group has been in existence for over 21 years. The Group meet every Tuesday evening at 8pm in the Parish Centre at Blanchardstown Church after two years of Virtual meetings because of Covid. Currently, there is a hybrid of Virtual and Physical meetings to accommodate members who are still anxious about meeting people personally.

The Group is a volunteer group with a passion of ‘capturing life in all its forms” in photography. The experienced photographers in the Group are wonderful in guiding, supporting and encouraging those who really want to develop the skill of photography to capture their best shot.  The membership come from a broad area, spanning many local communities and across Fingal County area and are looking to increase their membership at this time too.

This vibrant and active club is always on the go with activities, that include exhibitions, monthly photo competitions, workshops, studio sessions, monthly outings and a number of social events during the year. Some of their recent trips include shoots in Clare, Waterford, Hook Peninsula, Copper Coast and Lough Derg, the Wild Atlantic Way in Mayo, Saltee Islands and trips abroad include recently Lisbon, Bologna, Krakow, Madrid, Barcelona, London, Venice, Prague and are planning trips to anywhere in the world with opportunities to photograph the world and its inhabitants.
