Aubrey McCarthy (Chair and founder of Tiglin, addiction rehabilitation services) is one of several keynote speakers at Aontú’s Ard Fheis on Saturday next, October 7, writes Rose Barrett.
Chair of the South Western Regional Drugs Task Force, McCarthy also addressed several conventions as part of Recovery Month, among them the Citizen’s Assembly on Drugs Use in Malahide last weekend.
Mr McCarthy is keen to advocate on social issues across the political spectrum and spoke on similar matters in recent times at the Fianna Fáil Ard Fheis. He welcomed Taoiseach Leo Varadkar to Tiglin’s social enterprise café only last month to show the Government leader firsthand Tiglin’s innovative approach to recovery and social housing supports.
Aontú is involved in homeless outreach all over the country including in Dublin, Naas, Cork and Limerick

Others guest speakers at the Ard Fheis will include Pat McCormack, President of the ICMSA, Roger Cole PANA (Peace and Neutrality Alliance), Majella Beattie (Care Champions), Mark Thompson (Relatives for Justice, North of Ireland victims support campaign) and Anne Meara (Mecpaths), a non-profit organisation focussing on Child Trafficking in Ireland.
The Ard Fheis will take place at the Louis Fitzgerald Hotel in Newlands Cross, Dublin where hundreds of delegates and supporters are expected to attend.
