The Spring Summer 2024 collection at Magee 1866 is inspired by the windswept and sandy shorelines of Donegal on the Wild Atlantic Way, captured here on location at Murvagh Beach.

Along with some of Magee distinctive classic looks of herringbone, navy and seaside blues, this year’s Spring Summer launch includes a vibrant ‘mellow yellow’ look! These are quality, investment pieces guaranteed to last decades and stand the test of ever changing fashion trends.

Charlotte Temple Creative Director of Magee 1866 explains, “The seascapes and shorelines of Donegal were the starting point for SS24 and one I always return to, the soft colours and textures of our surroundings are very much part of our ongoing inspiration and are reflected throughout this collection.”

For women spring begins with warm tones of lemon yellow. Natural fabrics take centre stage, Irish wool is woven in cream herringbone and barley corn finishes while Irish linen, the ultimate summer fabric, runs through the collection in a fresh palette of pink, lemon, blue and navy – crisp cottons, silk blends and lofty textures also feature throughout.

Next on the horizon is a sea-inspired colour story with a mood of calm bright blue seas and sandy hues seen in soft stripes, solids, subtle herringbones, timeless salt and pepper weaves worked in deep navy and spring blues as well as ivory, caramel and oat.

Following for summer days is a bright and feminine colour palette. A collage of pinks – from hot to dusky and deep cerise which contrast with fresh lemon yellows and creams, all softened with greens in sage and moss. Made with Liberty Fabrics, an enduring favourite at Magee 1866, are seen throughout the collection with their statement florals and an exclusive fabrication of Made with Liberty Fabrics Love Links, an intricate heart print which is worked across the Roisin quilted jacket, Lizzie quilted gilet and Suzanne sweat top with a small-scale version of this print in the Tara top.

Hero pieces range from the Klara wrap jacket, an easy-to-wear cardigan style, in oat and cream houndstooth in the softest baby alpaca and wool blend. The Josie in lemon colourway is the ultimate summer update, Magee 1866’s take on the contemporary tweed coat in an Irish wool herringbone weave. Also, a highlight is the Molly, a flattering, long-line double breasted blazer in oat and caramel houndstooth – both designed and woven in the Magee weaving mill in Donegal town. Another standout is the Rebecca dress in Irish linen worked in dusky pink plaid, a very special fabric also designed and woven exclusively at the mill.

Klara Wrap Jacket €550

Magee 1866 have always been, by default, a “slow fashion’ brand focusing on subtle updates each season, designed to wear now and keep forever. With a selection of fabrics made in the Magee weaving mill in Donegal town it means each piece is carefully executed from concept to make, resulting in a truly unique collection that stands the test of time.
