MineVention will be at the RDS on April 14 and 15.

MineVention, a Minecraft-themed convention featuring tournaments, panel discussions, costume contests is coming to the RDS next weekend.

The event will take place on Saturday and Sunday, April 14 and 15.

“There is a lot more to our events than just Minecraft,” said organiser Lisa O’Brien.

“We are constantly adding new features and working to make each MineVention as welcoming and inclusive as possible. Listening to the feedback we receive from our attendees after each event allows us to respond to what Minecraft fans want.”

Come to our event in Dublin next month and you will see the amazing AllCast Irish Gamers in full flow as they MC our main stage! Head to bit.ly/minevention2018 to get your tickets!

The convention will be autism friendly and include a “chill out” room equipped with activities and toys designed to appeal to children with autism.

“[Being an autism-friendly event] has been hugely important to us since we first started running Minecraft conventions four years ago,” O’Brien said.

“The game has lots of fans amongst children with autism, and we want to make sure our events are as welcoming and inclusive as possible.”

Early entry is also available for children on the autism spectrum or with sensory processing difficulties so they can participate at a quieter time without being overwhelmed by noise or crowds.

The convention is also showcasing the educational uses of Minecraft and is providing an opportunity for Dublin students who have used the game for class to submit their projects.

“Minecraft is an educational game and has become hugely popular in schools across Ireland.  We know lots of teachers using it as an educational resource and building it into their school projects,” O’Brien said.

Tickets for MineVention are available from the convention’s website for €15.
