Over the Hill Lucan hurlers move on to the Mountain

by Aaron Dunne

An intrepid trio of Lucan Sarsfields hurlers will need all the power sauce bars they can get their hands on when they depart to take on the mighty Mount Kilimanjaro tomorrow in aid of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Down Syndrome Ireland.

Tommy Somers, Andrew Duff and Stephen Murphy fly out to Africa to take on the 6,000m monster that is Kilimanjaro.

The lads have raised a little over €6k of their €7,000 target, so get online if you can and throw a few shillings their way.

Kilimanjaro, at nearly 6 thousand metres high is world renowned as one of the ‘Seven-Summits’ and is a far cry from an afternoon stroll up Glendalough. The climb will take 7 days in total throughout which they will be sleeping rough in tents, enduring sub-zero temperatures, aching muscles and hoping to avoid the native African insects/wildlife who may pose a risk to their wellbeing!

The cost of the trip has been covered in full by the trio and all contributions are for the chosen charities – DSI Downs syndrome Ireland and MAKE-A-WISH foundation Ireland.
