Dublin artist Andre Mooney recently showed his latest paintin, ora touching tribute to Aslan’s lead singer Christy Dignam who is currently receiving palliative care, having lived with Amyloidosis for years.
“I just had to do this painting of Ireland’s national treasure Christy Dignam, “ said Andre. “When I first started painting, I was invited to meet him at his gig in Sandyford House. I brought my painting along and met him in the VIP lounge where we got to watch Dublin win the All-Ireland final before he went on stage.
“He was an absolute gent and told me to keep painting, we agreed to meet in the future and to show him more art.
“So here it is, a tribute to an absolute legend and thanks for the advice, Christy! He is probably one of the reasons I’m doing full time with my art. So from, one artist to another, thank you Christy for everything it will always be one of my favourite memories, the day I met you!
“If everyone could give this a little share and get it out there to let Christy know we are thinking of him and to keep fighting. Our thoughts are with him and his family, “ said Andre who shared the photo on his own FB page and on Finglas Talks on FB.
Sadly the Dignam family were hit with more devastating news recently when a nephew of Christy’s, Christopher Dignam Healy(27) died suddenly. The father of three died from a heart attack at the Mater Hospital; his funeral service was held at Glasnevin Cemetery on Saturday last, may he rest in peace.
