Following on from their recent visit of Stranger Things star Paul Reiser, this week the campus was visited by Ralph Rolle, the legendary drummer who has worked with Nile Rodgers/Chic, Lady Gaga and Dolly Parton to name but a few.

Born in the Bronx in New York, Ralph practised on the drums from a very young age, by the time he turned 18 he was already playing professionally within the United States. Alongside performing on the big stages around the world, Ralph is also passionate about education and works with outreach groups and local communities by sharing his knowledge and experiences with music students around the world.

This week he so happened to be in Dublin and had heard good things about a new music campus in Dublin which is making waves, so he paid them a visit.

Quote: Michael Dawson Jnr, CEO: “We were honoured to have Ralph Rolle visit the Irish Institute of Music and Song in Balbriggan. He is a legendary drummer who has worked with many of the top performing artists in the world of showbusiness. To have Ralph visit the campus was a thrill, especially for our students as he offered them kind words of encouragement and support during their lessons.”

The Irish Institute of Music and Song in North Co. Dublin is a self-contained campus that hosts a music school, guest house accommodation called Bedford House, and a stylish, contemporary eatery called the La La Café & Restaurant.

The newest addition to the campus will be The Lark, a brand new, state-of-the-art, 400 seater concert hall coming to Balbriggan in March, 2023. The Lark will appeal to a wide range of audiences, hosting weekly live events ranging from musical performances, theatre, film, panto, comedy and festivals.

It will be the first of its kind in Ireland as it will become part of a bigger ecosystem which encompasses an entire musical campus which hosts a music school, on-site accommodation, restaurant/bar and concert hall, all onsite together.

Ralph Rolle, Drummer for Nile Rodgers & Chic says “The Irish Institute of Music and Song is a phenomenal place, a real hub of creativity. Thank you to all the staff and students I met who made me feel so welcome. I very much look forward to visiting again and conducting some masterclasses when the concert hall is up and running”
