Cork International Choral Festival is calling on workplaces throughout Ireland to enter the exciting ‘Ibec Workplace Choir of the Year Competition’. The competition aims to help companies connect with their staff and teams through the uplifting medium of music!
Entries are due on Friday 10th February 2023.
Each company choir will prepare and perform two songs on the prestigious Cork City Hall stage, with a panel of international judges selecting the winners. While a healthy dose of competition doesn’t go astray there are plenty additional benefits to participation! The feel-good favour that singing brings, the opportunity for work colleagues to spend time together away from work, or to bring together remote workers. And of course, the chance to see the some of the best choirs from around Europe perform over the weekend (April 26th- 30th).
The internationally renowned choral festival is delighted to continue their relationship with title sponsors Ibec, for the 3rd annual Workplace Choir of the Year competition. It provides not only a focus for choirs to prepare musical pieces, rehearse and hone their skills, but also creates a sense of pride and achievement in the final performance and is a fantastic group outing where you get to experience the vibrancy of other choirs and be entertained by their performances. Who knows, your choir could even be crowned with the title of Workplace Choir of the Year!
Commenting on the call for entries Peter Stobart, Cork International Choral Festival artistic director said, “We are thrilled to be part of a three-year partnership with Ibec as title sponsors of the Workplace Choir of the Year competition. The popularity of the contest shows that businesses recognise both the importance of staff wellbeing and the therapeutic power of music. Group singing, in particular, can help individuals express themselves, connect with one another and generally just feel good which is something I think everyone can benefit from.”
Companies across Ireland (and internationally) who would like to enter the Ibec Workplace Choir of the Year competition must submit an online entry form, musical scores and entry fee and comply with the rules and regulations of the competition. The winning workplace choir will be announced at the Awards Ceremony of the 2023 Cork International Choral Festival on Sunday 30th April.
Established in 1954, the Cork International Choral Festival is regarded as the premier event of its kind both nationally and internationally attracting over 5,000 participants and is noted for its high standards, eclectic and wide-ranging programme, and the friendliness of its welcome.
