Raheny Heritage Society will host its annual Ray Wickham Talk at Raheny Library at 6.30pm on Thursday, June 22 this week.

“Ray Wickham founded Raheny Heritage Society, and each year we remember him, with a talk on family history research,” said Lucinda Mac Mahon, Secretary of the society.

“This year’s speaker is Mr Tom Broderick, of Ordnance Survey Ireland.  Tom will explain the value of the Ordnance Survey Ireland’s resources for anyone researching their family history.

“His talk will go through the history of Ordnance Survey from its inception to the present day.  He will explain why Ireland was originally surveyed, how they did it, the benefit and use of mapping past and present in genealogy and modern-day planning.”

Places can be booked in advance in person at the library, or by phoning 01 222 8322.
