To celebrate its 50th Anniversary, St Anne’s Parish in Portmarnock will celebrate beginning with Mass on Sunday next, October 2 at 12noon.

Archbishop Diarmaid Farrell will celebrate the special Jubilee Mass, along with local clergy and then a family fun day will follow.

The celebrations will continue during the week – all welcome. Part of the festivities include a special Pet Blessing on Tuesday October 4 in conjunction with the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi.

The animal blessing catering for creatures of all sorts will be held on the front lawn of the church at 3.30pm, weather permitting.  Otherwise, it will take place in the church with treats for the children and their pets!

“Sunday’s mass will be followed by a reception and Family Fun Afternoon in a marquee in the Church carpark until 4pm,” said Canon John Flaherty on behalf of the Jubilee Team.

“Barbeque and finger food will be served, with music and singing, face painting, a magic show and other children’s events throughout the afternoon . An art exhibition and sale by the Portmarnock Art Group with ‘Portmarnock’ as its theme, will run in Teallach Aine at the same time.

“A video photographic exhibition of old Portmarnock will also be shown.  We look forward to seeing you and your family over the weekend.,” he concluded.
