“#fussd15, under the umbrella of #fussireland, is bringing the crisis presently affecting not just across the country but specifically the community of Dublin 15 to Leinster House on Wednesday, September 14 next between 11am-2pm.

“Dublin 15 is a Constituency well represented at Cabinet by three ministers, two of whom hold senior portfolios yet D15 is experiencing diminishing supports and ever-growing delays in the provision of occupational therapy, speech and language, assessments, etc,” said Cllr Tania Doyle (Ongar).

“We have seen exponential growth in the population of Dublin 15 which is the fastest and most diverse community in the country. We expect to see the numbers grow with the release of the latest Census figures yet the services and their provision have not kept pace with the expansion.

“The growing deft of support services and their provision has not happened overnight. Successive Governments of all parties, numerous administrations over many years, have failed to adequately plan for the future and the cracks can no longer be papered over.

“It is universally acknowledged that ‘early intervention is key to positive outcomes’, so why are we continuously being left to wait, parents and families left with no option but to take out loans, getting deeper into debt as they have been forced to go private in order to secure a positive outcome for their child.”

“We are now calling on this Government to tell us how it intends to tangibly strengthen and hasten the provision of support services for our community of Dublin15. Government can no longer stand idly by, and we anticipate a meeting with Minister O’Gorman to raise the dire lack of support services and their provision here in D15.”
