What we will miss in the Aldi Marquee at the National Ploughing Championships!
From buffalos to line-dancers, rugby players to soccer legends and everything in between, it has all happened in the Aldi Marquee at the National Ploughing Championships over the years.
This year the exhibition fields of Fenagh, Co. Carlow will lay silent however the memories of children in wellies stomping in the inevitable puddles, famous faces popping in to meet the crowds, line-dancing with the masses and playing rugby with nuns will carry us all through to next year.
Aldi Ireland has been a proud title sponsor of The National Ploughing Championships for many years.
The 3 days in the heart of rural Ireland gives Aldi an opportunity to share its 200 strong local supplier stories with consumers and allows attendees to sample Irish products.
Popping into the Aldi Marquee at the Ploughing each year means you can sample anything and everything, and people can quite literally enjoy a three-course meal starting with a soupcon of soup and brown bread from Stapleton’s Bakery, to sausages from Loughnane’s, vegetables from Nature’s Best and dessert from Silverpail Dairies.
In fact over 30,000 sausages have been sampled in the Aldi Marquee over the years, with 4,000 being sampled in 2019, along with 2,000 rashers and 4,000 black and white puddings!
The highly contested National Brown Bread Baking Competition, with a cash prize of €15,000 takes place in a dedicated part of the marquee overseen by Aldi MC Síle Seoige who said this week, “I was all ready for another year in a field with Aldi. I will miss the craic and the smell of brown bread being baked but maybe not the wellies!”
Until next year!
