SF President to address Dublin Easter Commemoration at Arbour Hill

Sinn Féin (SF) President Mary Lou McDonald will be the speaker at the Dublin Sinn Féin 1916 Commemoration in Arbour Hill tomorrow, Easter Sunday, April 9.

The commemoration begins in historic Moore Street and proceeds to the Arbour Hill graves of 14 of the executed 1916 leaders. Dublin City Councillor Mícheál Mac Donncha, Chair of Dublin SF Commemoration Committee said: “This year’s Easter Commemoration begins in historic Moore Street to signal our ongoing determination to save the 1916 Battlefield Site and to create a Cultural Quarter.

“We are honoured to be joined by Uachtarán Shinn Féin Mary Lou McDonald as we go to the graves of the 1916 leaders in Arbour Hill.

“It is a significant anniversary, both of the 1916 Rising and the Good Friday Agreement.

“That Agreement provides the template for political progress and for referendums on Irish Unity. Sinn Féin in the year ahead will be campaigning ever more diligently for Irish reunification” he said

• Commemoration assembles 2pm Moore Street and proceeds to Arbour Hill where ceremony will commence approximately 3pm.
