An Post Irish Book Awards have announced the 2022 Bookshop of the Year Longlist with two Dublin bookshops among the national listing!

Chapters Bookstore, Parnell Street in Dublin city – a favourite with Dubs but also with we culchies coming up to Croke Park for ‘the big games’, and Books on the Green, in Sandymount, Co Dublin are flying the Dublin flag this year.

This category is part of a new initiative sponsored by An Post, offering book lovers across Ireland the chance to vote for their favourite bookshop (Alas, booking is now closed).
The category has been added for the second year in a row to the upcoming An Post Irish Book Awards, the annual literary event that celebrates and promotes Irish writing to the widest range of readers possible.
The 12 finalists include: Kerr’s Bookshop, and Philip’s Bookshop, Co Cork, Charlie Byrne’s Bookshop and Books at One Letterfrack representing Co Galway, Waterstones, Drogheda, Co Louth, Tertulia in Co Mayo, Liber in Co Sligo, Bridge Street Books, Co Wicklow, Chapters Bookstore and Books on the Green in Dublin, Bridge Books in Co Down, Genius Juniors Books in Co Clare.
Alas, voting is now closed and the winning bookshop will be announced in November 2022. However, mystery judges will be visiting all 12 bookshops on the longlist over the coming weeks to shortlist the final six.
The six finalists will be revealed on October 20 and the overall winner announced at the An Post Irish Book Awards on November 23.

A television programme will be broadcast on RTÉ One television in December and will culminate in one of the 2022 winning titles being announced as the ‘An Post Irish Book of the Year 2022’!
