A leading Irish veterinary group has welcomed a seasoned specialist in small animal surgery to lead its new surgical referral service.
Ciaran Jones has joined MyVet with a decade of national and international experience in the field, and is set to expand the range of surgical services offered by the Dublin group.
Ciaran is a double board-certified specialist in small animal surgery. He obtained his veterinary degree at University College Dublin, in 2014 and completed his internship at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Saskatchewan in 2015.
Following this, Ciaran pursued a three-year surgical residency at Washington State University where he practiced a variety of orthopaedic, soft tissue, neurologic, oncologic, and minimally invasive surgery, and was awarded numerous scholarships.
Ciaran became a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgery in Small Animal Surgery and a diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons, in 2019.
Since joining MyVet, which has practices in Lucan, Firhouse, and Maynooth, he has already worked on several cases and said he was excited to be at the forefront of the practice’s surgical speciality expansion.
He said: “I was pleasantly surprised to have been approached to work at MyVet and jumped at the opportunity.
“It has been a wonderful start and the team have been incredibly friendly and welcoming. There is a mutual excitement about the expansion of this specialist referral service and we are enthusiastic about what we can offer to pets up and down the country.
“The facilities at MyVet are brand new, state-of-the-art and easily accessible, which is a massive plus and helps diagnosis and treatment enormously, so I am thrilled to be a part of it all.”
