Last weekend Coastival kicked off in Dun Laoghaire. The Nautical Star Compass was on the East Pier, Dún Laoghaire from last Saturday until this Sunday (July 9).
This specially commissioned piece of 3D Street Art for Coastival designed by 3D Street Art Ireland created an optical illusion which tricks the mind into believing that 2D artwork is actually three dimensional. Visitors could interact with the piece by taking pictures at a set viewing point which will see them become part of the 3D illusion, writes Alex Greaney.
Visitors also enjoyed Atmosphere, a seaside special event themed around Balloons, Kites, and Flight on Newtownsmith, Dún Laoghaire. The Kite Zone featured stunt kites, large static kites and tournaments hosted by Francois and the Pure Magic team. There was kite flying competitions and a chance to make your own kite in the “make and do” area.
The ‘Anyone 4 Science’ flight team was also on hand making mini rockets and the Balloon Zone featured all shapes and sizes made by top balloon modellers. Visitors also relaxed in the Chill Zone featuring Volleyball skills, beach games, strolling characters, and beach loungers. There was also an eclectic mix of all-time favourite family movies showing at Outdoor Movies on the Green.
