Five students from the Nangor Road area of Clondalkin, where Baileys main production facility is located, have received special scholarship awards in recognition of their academic achievements and commitment to their education, writes Rachel Cunningham.

Now in their second year, the awards were presented at a ceremony in the Baileys plant on the Nangor Road last week.

The awards are made to secondary school pupils from schools in the local area who are nominated by their teachers, based on how they have advanced their own academic development.

Each winner received a MacBook laptop in recognition of their exemplary work. In addition, an overall winner was announced, receiving a special €1,000 award per year over two years to contribute towards their education development.

Emma Kenny, from Mercy Secondary School, Inchicore, was announced as the overall winner. Her commitment to continuing her schoolwork after hours and her initiative, creativity and reliability at school and in her local community were identified by her teachers as worthy of recognition.
