Cadbury has announced the return of its popular Secret Santa postal service, where chocolate fans across Ireland can send a bar of Cadbury chocolate to someone special this Christmas, for free.

Now in its fifth year, Cadbury Secret Santa has become a much-loved ritual that celebrates the warmth and excitement of giving selflessly at Christmas, with over 34,000 people having gifted Cadbury chocolate anonymously, to a loved one in Ireland, over the years. To celebrate, this festive season, Cadbury is making Secret Santa more inclusive and accessible than ever before, allowing thousands of people nationwide to send chocolate secretly, replacing its physical pop ups with a virtual postal service, accessed via posters across the country.

To send a bar, chocolate fans will need to keep an eye out for one of the posters, which will be popping up across the country until 24th December. Those looking to gift anonymously should keep their eyes peeled for a poster nearby, where they can scan a QR code to get involved. They will then be taken through to an interactive digital experience, where they will be guided through the service by friendly postman Jeff, who will help them select a bar for their chosen recipient.  Bars will be released every day of the activation until 24th December to ensure as many people as possible have the opportunity to become a Secret Santa.

A selection of Cadbury chocolate bars will be available to gift, including classic Cadbury Dairy Milk and a host of flavours including Winter Wonderland, Oreo, Caramel, Wholenut, Fruit & Nut, and Vegan Plant bar.

The postal service is supported by the brand’s Christmas Advert, which this year stars a warm and cheeky postman named Jeff – a genuine and generous character.  In the film, viewers are introduced to the possibility of sending an anonymous bar of chocolate for free, through posters popping up across the country..

Maighréad Lynch, Cadbury Ireland Seasonal Brand Manager comments: “We are delighted to be able to bring our much-loved Secret Santa ritual to more towns and cities across Ireland this year, giving more people than ever the opportunity to become a Secret Santa. In the lead up to Christmas, you’ll see our postal service popping up on posters across the country, with Jeff our lovely postman helping people across the country to send chocolate secretly to a loved one. At Cadbury we want to help spread generosity and believe that there’s a glass and a half in everyone. We hope this campaign encourages the nation to get into the Christmas spirit.”

Cadbury are also delighted to be supporting Barnardos with a charitable donation again this year. Each year, Barnardos helps over 16,000 beneficiaries in the heart of communities all over Ireland providing them with practical and emotional support when they need it most. Cadbury are proud to partner with Barnardos and the vital services they provide.

The Cadbury Secret Santa Postal Service will run until 24th December.
