Dublin team recognised for ‘going the extra mile Bus Éireann awards

Bus Éireann celebrated its employees’ achievements at the regional annual GEM (Go the Extra Mile) Awards, which recognises excellent customer service, community impact, performance, and forward-thinking.

Bus Éireann’s Dublin team was celebrated, with Ross Curley recognised as Apprentice of the Year, Patrick Boland named Engineering Operative of the Year, John McGinn named Craftworker of the Year, Susan Kerrigan as Clerical Employee of the Year and Gary Hennigan as Supervisor of the Year.  

Ross Curley was recognised for his exceptional attitude to learning and performance, while Patrick Boland was praised for his professionalism and collaboration with colleagues. Gary Hennigan was recognised for his forward thinking and ‘customer first’ approach, while Susan Kerrigan was commended for her dedication and always ‘going that extra mile’ for her colleagues.  

Allen Parker, Bus Éireann Chief Customer Officer said: ‘’I am immensely proud of our team of committed and dedicated employees in the Eastern Region who ‘go the extra mile’ for our customers every day. I would especially like to recognise the Drogheda Depot and Cavan Engineering teams who exemplify Bus Éireann’s core values. Their professionalism and collaboration make them worthy winners of the GEM Eastern Region Depot of the Year and Team of The Year.

“The GEM Awards celebrate the exceptional contributions of Bus Éireann employees for our passengers, our services and for their colleagues. I want to congratulate all of those who have won and who have been nominated for GEM Awards in 2022.’’ 

For Bus Éireann’s Eastern region, nominees won eleven awards in total.  

    Ross Curley won ‘Apprentice of the Year’

    John McGinn won ‘Craftworker of the Year’

    Susan Kerrigan won ‘Clerical Employee of the Year’

    Patrick Boland won ‘Engineering Operative of the Year’

    Michael Corkish won ‘Driver of the Year’

    Geraldine Lenaghan won ‘School Bus Driver of the Year’

    Gary Hennigan won ‘Supervisor of the Year’

    Paul Fitzpatrick won ‘Foreman of the Year’

    Adrian O’Loughlin won ‘Executive of the Year’ 

    Drogheda Depot won ‘Depot of the Year’

    Cavan Engineering team won ‘Team of the Year’

The Bus Éireann regional awards take place across the country in October and the winners of each region go forward to the National GEM awards on December 8th in Dublin.
