The Mazda CX-30 Compact SUV slots into Mazda’s award-winning SUV range between the CX-3 and CX-5. Featuring Mazda’s ground-breaking Skyactiv-X spark-controlled compression ignition engine, the CX-30 has the substance to compliment its impressive style.
Combining the bold stance of an SUV with the sleek profile of a coupe, its styling is a sophisticated evolution of Mazda’s KODO design philosophy, while it’s spacious and versatile cabin ensures it has the practicality and comfort demanded by customers in this popular sector.
Sense of Togetherness;
Everything about the Mazda CX-30 has been designed for a more relaxing and
stimulating experience, for both drivers and passengers. Through studying human-sensory characteristics, the quietness of the cabin has been greatly enhanced by reducing both noise generation and improving insulation. It takes the sense of togetherness you feel only with a Mazda to a new level, creating a unique oneness between car and driver. This is evident in the way it looks, the way it moves and, most importantly, the way it feels.
Limited Production Run;
With Mazda having celebrated 100 years in business in 2020, they have marked the occasion with a limited production run of ‘100th Anniversary Edition’ models, one of which is the CX-30. Mazda looked back to their iconic R360 Coupé from 1960 for inspiration and have based their special edition models on the style of that influential car. Common features include a white body colour, burgundy red leather seat upholstery – embossed with a 100th anniversary logo, burgundy carpets and floor mats, a key fob with a 100th anniversary logo, a special exterior badge and special 100th anniversary wheel caps. The result is an astonishing look which combines Mazda’s latest KODO design with the classic, retro looks of the iconic R360 Coupé. The Mazda CX-30 100th Anniversary Edition is exclusively powered by a 2.0-litre Skyactiv-X petrol engine in conjunction with an intelligent mild hybrid system called Mazda M Hybrid, which uses kinetic energy from regenerative braking to help acceleration from launch, and to power the cars electronics. This cutting-edge technology enables the CX-30 to deliver outstanding performance, low running costs and strong environmental credentials. A hugely impressive array of safety systems come as standard in this special edition CX-30 and include such items as Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Cruising and Traffic Support, Driver Attention Alert, Driver Monitoring, Dynamic Stability, e-Call with GPS, Front Cross Traffic Alert, multiple airbags, G-Vectoring Control Plus, Hill Hold Assist, Intelligent Speed Assist, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Mazda Radar Cruise Control, Smart Brake Control (front, rear and rear crossing), Traffic Sign Recognition, and a Tyre Pressure Warning System. The Mazda CX-30 was awarded the maximum five-star rating by Euro NCAP, with an exceptional 99% score in the Adult Occupant category.
Car on Review;
My review car was a Mazda CX-30 Skyactiv-X M Hybrid 100th Anniversary Edition in exclusive Snowflake White Pearescent paint and fitted with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard. With a high-quality, stylish and practical cabin, the Mazda CX-30’s interior sets new standards for a Mazda SUV, while the 430-litre boot ensures it’s as practical as it is desirable. Mazda’s amazing human-centric cabin design combines a snug, focused driver’s cockpit area with a clean, airy and open cabin space for passengers that enhances communication between all cabin occupants. Crafted with premium materials, it too achieves a flowing elegance and beauty, together with the bold, can-do attitude of an SUV. The CX-30 performed admirably on a variety of back roads and motorways, while comfortable and supportive seats ensure that every journey can be enjoyed in a relaxed, calm manner. Strong brake pedal feel, effortless acceleration and multiple driver seat, and steering wheel, adjustment options make the CX-30 a true drivers car in every respect. Producing 186PS and a healthy 240Nm of torque, the CX-30 Skyactiv-X can sprint from 0-100km/h in just 8.3-seconds, and can achieve a top speed of 204km/h, while a CO2 emission figure of 128g/km results in annual road tax of just €190. The amazing 100th Anniversary Edition model comes with a hugely impressive array of standard specification, and certainly wants for nothing in terms of comfort, infotainment, safety, engine technology and convenience features, while the burgundy colour scheme throughout the cabin provides a terrific sense of occasion for all occupants. As is the case with all modern Mazda cars and SUV’s, the CX-30’s real strength lies in its ability to feel as luxurious as premium brands in this class, but at a more affordable price.
Pricing & Warranty;
While pricing for the new Mazda CX-30 starts at just €29,895 (ex-delivery), the lavishly-equipped and highly-desirable CX-30 100th Anniversary Edition is priced at €39,165 (including the cost of the exclusive Snowflake White Pearlescent paint). Mazda’s comprehensive 3-Year/100,000km warranty comes as standard, as does a 3-Year European roadside assistance package for total peace of mind motoring.
