Since opening its state of the art facility in Rathfarnham in 2003, the DSPCA has offered shelter and care to a wide variety of animals including dogs, cats, horses, donkeys, goats, cows, pigs, rabbits, ferrets, gerbils, budgies, snakes, terrapins and all manner of farmyard fowl.
The DSPCA also offer a range of services for pet owners. By using these services, 100% of the income goes directly to fund the work of the DSPCA in helping sick, injured and cruelly treated animals.
Over the next three weeks, the DSPCA will offer Dublin Gazette readers some fantastic discounts on some of these services. Pick up your FREE copy of Dublin Gazette this week to get €50 off a Dog Training Diploma course and take a look at some of the services offered by the DSPCA below.
The hotel is segregated into two buildings – a dog hotel and a cat hotel.
The dog hotel has 52 Suites and the cat hotel has 18 pods. Every pet is housed individually (unless from the same household).
Each suite is indoors with their own individual radiator and air conditioning and meals are served on a ‘Meals on Wheels’ trolley.
All pets receive one-to-one playtime and cuddles with the DSPCA’s canine carers and dogs receive outdoor one-to-one playtime in a special enclosed area and on lead walks. No dogs are mixed unless clients book the extra service of doggie day care.
Cats get playtime out of their suites in our cat play-zone, fully equipped with scratch posts & toys

The DSPCA run a diploma course in ‘Canine Behaviour & Dog Training’. This can be run onsite or online.
The course aims to give a full introductory overview of the modern canine, looking at such topics as core physiology, evolution and canine learning theory.
This programme is designed as a short introduction with only a small practical component.
Students can progress on to become assistant dog trainers and join the DSPCA’s pet boarding internship.
