Thanks to a wonderful blend of premium functionality, comfort and dynamism, the New Audi RS 7 Sportback is more than just a sporty car.

Striking RS design elements promise ultimate sportiness that you can transfer effortlessly onto the road thanks to the super-powerful 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine and quattro all-wheel drive.

Exhilarating Performance:

The forward thrust of the Audi RS 7 Sportback makes everything in the rear-view mirror appear smaller in an instant.

It develops exhilarating power under the bonnet, while an equally impressive soundtrack can be heard from the massive twin exhausts.

Thanks to an incredible output of 600PS (592bhp), and a gigantic 800 Nm of torque, you can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds, while the standard limited top speed of 250 km/h can optionally be increased to 280 km/h.

Thanks to ‘Quattro’ permanent all-wheel-drive and a sportily-tuned eight-speed tiptronic transmission (with optimised gear changes), fast and self-assured sprints are guaranteed.

Audi RS 7 drivers can tailor their own driving experience with the Audi drive select dynamic handling system, allowing them to choose a mode to suit their mood. Whatever angle you look at the new Audi RS 7 from, its distinctive sporty character is captivating at first sight.

Its striking view from the front is dominated by the wide, flat Singleframe with frameless integrated radiator grille and massive pentagonal air inlets.

Thanks in no small part to the RS-specific rear diffuser and the huge oval tailpipes of the RS exhaust system, the rear of the RS 7 is as robust as it is dynamic, while impressive 22-inch V-spoke alloy wheels emphasise the sporty look of the car.

Exquisite Cabin:

Audi is renowned for classy, minimalist interiors that are both exquisitely finished and super-intuitive to use.

The RS 7 doesn’t disappoint in this regard, with upmarket materials everywhere you look, and a simple, user-friendly dashboard layout.

Being the top model in the A7 range, it comes with luxurious Valcona leather with contrasting honeycomb stitching and plenty of other RS-specific interior trim.

Audi’s top-spec Navigation Plus infotainment system (with MMI touch response) comes as standard, along with Audi’s technologically-advanced Virtual Cockpit.

This replaces the conventional analogue instrument panel with a high-resolution digital display that can show information on speed and revs in the form of conventional gauges, sat-nav instructions or performance data, or several combinations of each.

Car on Review:

My review car looked absolutely stunning in its striking Foil Silver metallic paint, while the contrasting black leather upholstery ensured that the interior of the car looked equally as desirable.

On the road is where the new RS 7 Sportback stands head and shoulders above the regular performance car crowd. Under strong acceleration, the standard four-wheel-drive system provides enough traction to whisk you off the starting line in a controlled and urgent fashion, while a solid brake feel ensures stopping distances are kept to a minimum.

The RS 7’s super-slick automatic gearbox makes light work of long journeys and heavy traffic, ensuring that the car combines everyday usability with serious sports car pace.

The ‘RS mode’ steering wheel button can be used to select one of the two new individual RS modes, thereby enabling the RS-specific performance design to open up and display the maximum g-acceleration values, while the standard head-up display also offers exclusive RS graphics.

Fascinating Light Show:

Driving the RS 7 on a dark road at night is a true feast for the senses, as the cars standard HD Matrix LED Headlamps with Audi’s amazing laser light function literally transforms night into day, while high-beam assist ensures that the lights don’t dassle oncoming traffic.

When the car is unlocked, a distinctive ‘light dance’ is performed by both the front and rear light clusters, while the rear light design includes a horizontal light bar joining the two sets of lights on either side. There is no denying that the RS 7 is an imposing car on the road.

Measuring in at over 5-metre’s long and 1.95-metre’s wide, the car exudes an outstanding visual presence. Official fuel consumption testing procedures for the RS 7 claim a return of 22.4mpg on a combined driving cycle, which equates to just over 12.6-litres of fuel for every 100km’s travelled.

Verdict & Pricing:

The new Audi RS 7 is fitted with the very latest infotainment, safety and driver-assistance technology, and comes with a hugely-impressive list of standard equipment.

However, a suite of optional extras are available for drivers who require their RS 7 to be as individual as they are.

The amazing new Audi RS 7 is super-car fast, supremely comfortable, sounds great and has agile handling – and I found it to be a very accomplished all-rounder capable of raising a smile on every journey.

Pricing for the new RS 7 starts at €168,000 (ex-delivery).
