Dublin Fire Brigade are still attending a wildfire in Killiney this morning.
Support arrived from Irish Air Corps early this morning with a helicopter and firefighting bambi bucket. “It was essential that NO DRONES were flying in the area while the helicopter operated,” said DFB online.
The fire broke out yesterday evening, Monday (July 25). Crews and pumps remained on the scene with seven pumps and two water tankers fighting the blazing fire.
Firefighters fought the fire throughout the night when a large logistical operation was put in place to ensure lighting and consumables such as BA cylinders and diesel were available.
The operation to protect houses was successful as DFB sought to protect two residential areas under threat: Glenaula Road and Ballinclea Heights.
Thankfully, all residents are reported safe.
Firefighters advised homeowners in the area to keep windows and doors closed if you, especially those living downwind of the fire.
