World’s first Margarita Margherita pizza to debut in Dublin next week

by Rachel Darcy

The world’s first Margarita Margherita pizza, where the dough has been fermented in Jose Cuervo tequila, will debut across Dublin on February 22.

The dough is marinated for over 24-hours and a tomato sauce marinated in triple sec, salt, garlic and tequila. It is then topped-off with Parmesan, buffalo mozzarella, fresh basil leaves, sea salt and lime wedges, true to a real margarita drink.

Jose Cuervo will debut this crossover cuisine across Dublin on February 22 to celebrate National Margarita Day, with the pizza and a complimentary cocktail available to pre-order for just €10 here.

The tequila brand teamed up with top food economists to develop the Margarita Margherita pizza as millions turn to takeaways and deliveries.

Jose Cuervo have said that they hope the dish will become the ‘pizza de resistance’ of lockdown meals for fans of bread, cheese, tomato and Mexican cocktails.

What’s more, every purchase of the €10 pizza will come with a complimentary special edition pizza-inspired Margarita cocktail that combines the traditional sweet and savoury flavours of a traditional Margarita with toppings found in a traditional Margherita pizza.

It contains fresh lemon juice, basil, fresh tomatoes and tequila. Finished off with a garnish of cherry tomatoes and a mozzarella ball on a skewer with basil leaves.

To recreate the Margarita Margherita pizza or cocktail at home or to be in with the chance of winning a Margarita Margherita kit, including apron, pizza cutter, cocktail and pizza ingredients, please head to the Jose Cuervo Ireland Instagram.
