Man detained following robbery in Swords’ bookmakers

Gardaí at Swords were alerted shortly after 10am yesterday morning, Saturday, January 6 after a lone male entered a bookmakers premises on North Street, Swords armed with a knife.

The man is believed to have threatened staff before leaving the premises with a sum of cash and mobile phones belonging to staff members. There was no injuries reported.

The man aged in his 40s was arrested by local Garda units responding to the incident. He is currently detained for questioning under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda Station in north Dublin.
A sum of cash and mobile phones have been recovered.
Investigations are ongoing.
